BEFF IGNITE: La Brigade (Kitchen Brigade)

Thursday, September 28, 2023

The screening of LA BRIGADE is presented as part of our BEFF IGNITE, a food justice initiative in partnership with A Single Bite.

Whether you attend all or some of the evening’s festivities, tickets are $15 for adults and free for kids and students, with $5 going to A Single Bite. See Details Below.

About the Film:
LA BRIGADE tells the story of Cathy, a stubborn 40-year-old sous chef with dreams of opening her own restaurant. Facing unexpected financial challenges, she reluctantly takes a job at a shelter for young migrants. Initially despising her new role, her culinary expertise and passion for food shine through and she is able to  transform the lives of the children she serves. In turn, these young migrants impart valuable lessons that alter the course of Cathy’s life forever, ultimately guiding her towards a different and meaningful path.

Director Bio:
Louis-Julien Petit, a French director and writer, has crafted a diverse cinematic career. He has written and directed several short films, including BANDE DÉMO in 2013, which received acclaim at various film festivals. In the same year, he completed the dramatic feature film ANNA ET OTTO. In 2015, he directed DISCOUNT, a comedy centered around store employees clandestinely establishing their own discount supermarket. His socially conscious work continued with CAROLE MATTHIEU in 2016, featuring Isabelle Adjani as a female occupational health doctor striving to improve the working conditions and practices of employees in distress. In 2019, he directed LES INVISIBLES, a film depicting the daily life of a shelter for homeless women starring Audrey Lamy. Three years later, he reunited with Lamy for LA BRIGADE.
