An intimate portrait of the 80-year-old African American street photographer Louis Mendes who began his career in 1953 in Harlem as a door-to-door baby photographer. Taking street portraits across the city, through the civil rights movement, the drug epidemic, crime, and poverty, Mendes forged a living with his 1940s Speed Graphic press camera. Now a New York legend with 37 photographer apprentices, he reflects on a life of hard work, survival, and creativity.

Map of Latin American Dreams
Between 1992 and 2013, director Martín Weber traveled around Latin America and photographed various people while asking them to write down their dreams. Several years later, Weber and his camera return to meet the same people once more to see if their dreams have come true. Most of the people we meet have fallen victim to injustices committed by dictatorships, military juntas, and other failed governments in various Latin American countries. Here are tales of vanished brothers and violence, poverty, and lost hope, but also touching reunions for the renowned photographer Weber.
Martín Weber (b. 1968) is an Argentinian multimedia artist born in Chile, which he later found out was in exile. He studied both in Buenos Aires and at ICP in New York. Map of Latin-American Dreams is his directorial debut, and it won the Documentary Award at the CINELATINO in 2020.
